kitty macdougal
♞ ♞ ♞ ♞ ♞ ♞ personality: You'll need track shoes to keep up with these Geminis. They have so much energy that they exhaust nearly everyone, save other Gryffindor Geminis. In class, they love to get into debates with the professor. Out of class, they love to get into trouble. These Gryffindor Geminis are as easily stirred by romantic dreams and noble causes as any other Gryffindors, although their involvement is more mental than practical - they lack the fortitude for battle and are best left passing propaganda to the real warriors. Expect a large number of them to work for the Daily Prophet after graduation. |

clan macdougal
Pureblood, mostly. (origin: from the Gaelic "mac dubh-gall", meaning "son of a dark stranger.") The MacDougals have a long and rich history. No one is quite certain when the wizarding clan first came to be. All they know is that they are an old family and one of the first wizarding clans in Scotland. The first true written records of the clan date to 1123 when a member of the clan married a muggleborn and was disowned. He went on to found the muggle clan MacDougall. Due to the Scottish clan wars, the Campbells, MacFustys and MacDougals have never quite gotten along. The MacDougals supported William Wallace, whilst the MacFustys and Campbells supported Robert I. When the war was over, the MacDougals lost most of their lands in Argyll to the Campbells… something they never took well. And it wasn't until 1654 when William MacDougal became Minister of Magic that they were able to gain much of their lost lands. The Clan's motto is: Buaidh no bàs (Victory or Death). Their animal symbol is the Raven (ironically very few MacDougals have actually been in Ravenclaw at Hogwarts.) Their Branch is Bell Heather. WHILE the MacDougal clan have had their prominent moments in wizarding society, they have long since lost that position. In fact, if you read their family history you'll see that their generations in mediocrity have been far more frequent. William MacDougal's ascension to Minister was the clan's highest moment in society, though it turned out the man was a rather mediocre politician in the end. Since then the family have been content to regress to a simple life of farming and keeping to themselves, unless of course a war breaks out. The MacDougal estates have provided meat (lamb), grain (barley and wheat), poultry, eggs, and horses to the wizarding world for centuries. However, they have also recently begun selling and trading with muggles as they've been losing money over the decades since the wars ended in 1945. They've also slightly 'modernised' to use muggle farm equipment to increase productivity. MacDougal farms are well-known for quality, and employing squibs to work the land. Like any family they've had their share of skeletons, squibs, and bloodtraitors. They are who they are, and no longer strive to become more. |
